SATURDAY 7 MARCH 2015
PAUL LAMB & CHAD STRENTZ

"... simply better than the opposition - from whatever side of the Atlantic it happens to come". (Blueprint) "... you certainly won't feel blue at the end of the night." (South China Post, Hong Kong) "absolute dynamite" (The Times) Paul Lamb has spent the last thirty-some years whoopin' and hollerin' in clubs in his native North-East and then in London, He represented Britain in the World Harmonica Championships, working with his particular mentor, Sonny Terry, and with any number of other blues artists who've visited these shores. His band The King Snakes regularly top the bill at blues fests. There's a deal of experience behind vocalist and rhythm guitarist Chad Strentz.
He started out as a rockabilly hound, influenced by the likes of Gene Vincent, Elvis and Little Richard before broadening his influences to include Bo Diddley and Junior Parker, Sam Cooke and Wilson Pickett. He joined the King Snakes in 1991, in time to make significant contributions to their award-winning sequence of albums.

The man sadly passed away on 26th July 2013 but left us with a wonderful legacy of original songs and a musical style that epitomised the notion of “cool”. The evening celebrates his original brand of blues, country and roots music and a life dedicated to music, leaving us with some great memorable tunes.

PAUL'S 70th BIRTHDAY CONCERT

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 5th

PAUL MILLNS UK 7Oth BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION CONCERT September 5th

To mark his 70th birthday, Paul will be joined on stage on a very special night by his outstanding band and musical friends, who have played with many of the top blues and soul artists.

"Superb singer / songwriter / pianist" TIME OUT

Paul's blues and soul roots included playing piano for the likes of Alexis Korner, Eric Burdon and Peter Thorup. It is as a singer and songwriter Paul has found European success, with songs being covered by singers like Elkie Brooks and Bonnie Tyler.

Often compared in the music press to Randy Newman and Tom Waits, his smokey, soulful voice always stirs the heart and mind.

"If there was any justice in the musical world, he would be filling the biggest halls in the land.' THE SCOTSMAN

Paul will present songs from his new album GONE AGAIN [his sixteenth solo album], and older favourites from his  LIVE IN GENEVA double album.

A unique occasion!

SATURDAY 6 JUNE
GORDON SMITH ALL STARS
(RETURN BY POPULAR DEMAND)

Gordon Smith was once described by the late John Peel as the "foremost white blues guitarist in the world” which is a hefty epithet to carry around and potentially embarrassing to such a modest character as Gordon - but there is no doubt that he is a great blues guitarist with an authentic blues voice which caught the attention of the legendary Blue Horizon label in the early 1960s. He displays the influences of the blues greats – Rev Gary Davis, Robert Johnson, Lightning Hopkins, Sleepy John Estes and most obviously the great Lonnie Johnson. Gordon Smith is joined by Alan Glen on harmonica, Jim Mercer on double bass and Tim Penn on piano - the same stellar cast as on the acclaimed live album recorded at Brooks Blues Bar in February 2011. You can purchase a limited edition copy on the night.
