FROM LEE WILSON – FRIEND AND MUSICIAN
I first met Brian from the early days of Rubber Biscuit, when I also met his family, Miles, Louise, Phil and Leo. Brian was the warm-up act of choice. So entertaining and funny. He had crowds of people in stitches. These people had probably never heard they type of songs Brian played for them before, but they absolutely loved every second of every performance.
I remember thinking "Miles's dad is so cool"!
Well quite a few years on I asked Brian if he would be interested in doing some sort of duo. I don't think he was convinced at the time, but we did a few practices, and he taught me some of the old blues songs as well as his own stuff. It wasn't long before the gigs started coming in we were in business! We had a fairly good run and lots of fun.
Every now and then, you get to play with musicians that change your own playing for the better. You learn how to do things that you couldn't do before and they help you to bring the best out of your playing. Brian was one of those musicians. I don't know if anyone would agree with that about my playing, because the blues doesn't come naturally to me. I really have to work at it. Brian really helped me a lot, and I'm grateful.
But he was also one of those rare people that very few of us are fortunate enough to meet who make you take a long hard look at yourself and stop whining about the hand you got dealt with, and to just get on and enjoy life.
Cheers Brizy
Love From Lee.
